What language should I write in for a basic 2d arcade game for mobile devices?

    From my POV: Haxeflixel or Corona SDK.

    Unity3D is also good for 2d games.

    Steer clear of Unity for simple games. I use Love2d which has a community supported compiler to Android and iOS.
    Cocos2d is also quite good.

    Love2d is totally free, which will help you out early on.
