    Hey guys.

When you submit your game to download.com they automatically host it for you (after the initial payment) for free, correct?

If thats the case, couldnt you host your site on your own server but then have the downloads section link to your games page hosted on download.com (and save the file hosting costs)? I see Sirrus (dopefarmer) and a few others do this. But I want to know for sure if what im saying is correct.

Yes you can do it, but you run the risk of,

    1. Them getting confused by download.com. Afterall it doesn't have the most user friendly interface.

    2. Them thinking you are less professional because you don't host your own files. It will also ruin the flow of your site.

    3. Them going to download.com for their next gaming fix rather than your own site.

However my site is setup to automatically direct people to download.com if my bandwidth does start to to run low. I think that is possibly the best option if you can't afford the bandwidth.

    How did you manage that?
